Privacy Policy
Persica is built to know as little about you as possible. This policy explains what little that is.
Who we are
Persica is operated by Ryan Asgharian, an individual developer based in Ireland (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at privacy@persica.io.
What we collect, and where it lives
Your name. During onboarding we ask what to call you. That name is stored only on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Your learning progress. The words you have seen and learned, the stories and poems you have completed, your level, and your settings are stored only on your device. We do not have a server that holds your progress, and we cannot see it.
Purchase information. If you subscribe, the purchase is processed by Apple. We use a service called RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier for your app installation and your purchase history (which products you bought and when). This is used solely to unlock your membership and restore your purchases. Neither we nor RevenueCat receive your name, email address, or payment details — Apple keeps those. RevenueCat’s privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Nothing else. Persica contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking. We do not collect your email address, location, contacts, or anything about your device beyond what is described above.
What this means in practice
- If you delete the app, your name and learning progress are deleted with it.
- If you get a new phone, your progress does not transfer, because it only ever existed on your old one. Your subscription can be restored on the new device through “Restore purchase”, as it is tied to your Apple ID.
- We could not sell your data if we wanted to. We do not have it.
Legal basis (for readers in the EU/EEA)
The limited processing described above is carried out on the basis of performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR): the purchase data handled by RevenueCat is necessary to provide the membership you bought. All other data stays on your device and is not processed by us.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and Irish data protection law, you have rights to access, correct, and erase personal data, among others. Because your data lives on your device, most of these rights are in your own hands: you can erase everything by deleting the app. For anything relating to purchase records held through RevenueCat, contact us at privacy@persica.io and we will help. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Children
Persica is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included — the design collects almost nothing from anyone.
Changes
If we ever change how Persica handles data — for example, if we add accounts or sync in a future version — we will update this policy and note the change clearly in the app before it applies.
