Terms of Service
These terms are a contract between you and Ryan Asgharian, an individual developer based in Ireland (“we”, “us”), covering your use of the Persica app and persica.io. By using Persica, you agree to them.
What Persica is
Persica is a Persian (Farsi) language learning app that teaches through stories, poetry, and proverbs. Parts of Persica are free; the full story library and some features require a paid membership.
Membership
Plans. Membership is offered as an auto-renewing subscription: monthly or annual. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
Billing. Subscriptions are purchased through Apple and billed to your Apple ID. They renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions on your device). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds. Payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple, not from us, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple’s decision applies.
If your membership ends. You keep your learning progress. Access to locked stories and membership features ends until you resubscribe. We never delete what you have learned.
EU right of withdrawal. If you are in the EU, you may have a 14-day right of withdrawal on digital purchases, exercised through Apple, subject to Apple’s terms on immediate access to digital content.
Your content and conduct
Persica stores your learning progress on your device only. You agree not to attempt to copy, scrape, resell, or redistribute Persica’s content, reverse engineer the app, or use it in any unlawful way.
Our content
The stories, lesson texts, translations, explanations, artwork, and design in Persica are our copyrighted work, except for the underlying classical texts (such as the Shahnameh and classical Persian poetry), which are part of the public domain heritage Persica exists to share. Our original renderings, adaptations, and presentations of those texts remain our work. You may not reproduce Persica’s content outside the app without permission.
Accuracy
Persica’s content is prepared with care, but it is an educational aid, not an academic reference. Translations and transliterations are simplified for learning. If you spot an error, tell us at hello@persica.io — we genuinely want to know.
Availability and changes
We may update, change, or discontinue features of Persica over time. We will not remove your access to the core of what you paid for during a period you have already paid for. Persica is provided “as is”; to the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties and limit our liability to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Irish or EU law, or affects your statutory consumer rights.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If you are a consumer in the EU, you also keep the protection of any mandatory rules of your own country, and disputes may be brought in your local courts. The EU online dispute resolution platform is at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we will note them in the app or on persica.io before they take effect. Continuing to use Persica after that means you accept the updated terms.
